The subdial, a curved UFO, holds the small seconds and is finished with a blue CVD-coating with hand-guilloché craftsmanship executed inside the Atelier Lucerne. Mechanical Art Transversed: Moritz Grossmann Reveals the BACKPAGE Tremblage Anniversary Edition

The year 2026 marks a historic milestone for the Moritz Grossmann manufactory in Glashütte, celebrating the 200th birthday of its visionary founder and namesake, born on March 27, 1826. A genius watchmaker, scientist, author, and the initiator of the German Watchmaking School, Grossmann profoundly shaped the craft of horology and the fate of his hometown. Rather than merely duplicating historical concepts, the modern manufactory honors his legacy by blending his cutting-edge philosophy with modern engineering. This dedication to technological perfection and exceptional aesthetics cements its place among the world's elite elite watchmakers.

To commemorate this bicentennial occasion, the brand has unveiled its fourth anniversary special edition: the BACKPAGE Tremblage. Debuting on May 19, 2026, this launch presents an exclusive mechanical showcase for collectors—featuring a massive dial opening that reveals the magnificent inner workings of the movement from the front. Crafted with a luxurious three-part platinum case, the watch conceals a subtle celebratory nod on its reverse side: a balance cock delicately engraved with "1826", the birth year of Moritz Grossmann.

At the heart of this timepiece is the hand-wound manufactory calibre 107.0, a technical tour de force that essentially stands as a mirror image of the signature calibre 100.1. To allow components like the Grossmann balance, hand-engraved balance cock, and the triple-band snailing on the ratchet wheel to be admired on the dial side instead of being hidden on the back, the entire movement architecture had to be re-engineered. An additional wheel integrated between the crown wheel and the ratchet wheel reverses the rotation of the drive train, allowing the mirrored escapement and oscillation system to run perfectly in the correct direction.

The defining aesthetic highlight of this model is its German silver dial face, treated with the historic hand-worked tremblage engraving technique. By meticulously guiding a cutter back and forth in tiny trembling movements, master artisans create a vibrant, finely granulated, and uniform matt texture. The remaining dial elements define the watch's character, offered in either an expressive violet or a captivating "blue meteor" galvanized shade, framing the hour display from 11 to 5 o'clock. Strictly limited to 12 pieces per color variant worldwide, the models are completed with matching hand-annealed steel hands and hand-stitched alligator or kudu leather straps.

Chronographe Télémètre At the speed of sound

This year, Angelus is releasing the Chronographe Télémètre as a limited edition of two sets of 25 steel timepieces and a further 15 in 18-carat yellow gold. Measuring 37 mm in diameter, with a vintage-inspired dial and a mono-pusher set into the winding crown, this short-interval timekeeping instrument contains countless tributes to Angelus’ rich history and particularly its speciality in crafting chronographs. Its noble hand-wound mechanism, historical roots and superior finishes give this chronograph a wildly elegant retro aesthetic.

After the Instrument de Vitesse and the Chronographe Médical, the La Fabrique collection welcomes a new masterpiece that recalls the functional and aesthetic history of Angelus. Founded in 1891 in Le Locle by the Stolz brothers, Angelus quickly specialised in alarm clocks, minute repeaters and, above all, chronographs. One of its iconic models already inspired the revival of the Chronodate collection 80 years later.

Arnold & Son has reworked its Nebula collection, giving it a more striking case with a universal diameter of 40 mm while retaining its remarkably finished movement and unique abundance of watchmaking tradition. Two versions – one with a rhodium-plated and black calibre, the other with golden accents – ensure that the Nebula 40 Steel shines bright. The aesthetics of the Nebula collection are unlike any other skeleton: its structure conveys watchmaking spirit, its style expresses unique elegance, and the overall effect is one of outstanding finesse.

The case of the Nebula collection has been redesigned, modernised and refined. With streamlined lugs, a softly rounded bezel, a more vertical case middle and a diameter of 40 mm in harmony with its thickness of just 9.10 mm, this steel case opens a new chapter for the collection. The Armin Strom One Week Titanium Skeleton, an openworked masterpiece now fully skeletonized to reveal the intricate heart of its mechanics, combines striking design with precision engineering. Encased in lightweight titanium grade 5, it balances strength with comfort, providing a feeling of lightness that makes it easy to wear all week long.

The Armin Strom One Week Titanium Skeleton is a showcase of skeletonization, a technique that is rooted in Mr. Armin Strom’s philosophy and heritage. He sought to enhance depth and three-dimensionality while avoiding see-through to maintain elegance.

The 2023 One Week was already openworked by nature, but this version goes even further, removing more material to highlight the movement’s complexity. Few watches combine openworking and skeletonization at this level. The small seconds dial is skeletonized, revealing the power reserve level and the escapement wheel for a 3D mechanical animation. The mainplate and the barrels are also skeletonized enhancing aesthetics. Thanks to this skeletonization, the power reserve indicator is highlighted as well as the cone mechanism, reminiscent of ancient pocket watches. A major highlight is the case back, offering a mesmerizing view of the entire mechanism.

With a 7-day power reserve, this watch keeps time accurate for an entire week without needing winding. The hand-finished details reflect the level of craftsmanship behind its design. Arnold & Son continues its mastery of ornamental stones with the launch of the Ultrathin Tourbillon Onyx. Available in 18-carat 5N red gold or 950 platinum, this exquisite timepiece is limited to just eight pieces per version. The design features a broad dial crafted from polished natural onyx, offering an intense black backdrop that beautifully contrasts with a unique matt-finished sub-dial.

At the heart of this creation is the A&S8300 manufacture calibre, which stands as one of the slimmest flying tourbillon movements in the industry at only 2.97 mm thick. Technical refinements to the regulating organ and tourbillon cage have boosted the power reserve to an impressive 100 hours.
