Perpetual Moon 38 Night Tide - Diamonds making waves

JUNE 13 2024    |    Novelties

Waxing, gibbous, blue: the power of the moon imposes itself on the Earth and even more so, on the seas. Perpetual Moon 38 Night Tide celebrates the fluctuating pull of this celestial body on the water. A large moon disc appears over vast waves. Made of mother-of-pearl and ruthenium, they rise one after the other in a cascade of soft curves. This scene, illuminated by diamonds, celebrates the femininity, elegance and evocative power of Arnold & Son’s watchmaking.

Powerful and plentiful, the waves of Perpetual Moon 38 Night Tide herald heavy seas. In the blue of the night, the tide is at its highest, and so are the rollers. The moon, capricious and triumphant, imposes its will. The gradations of the water are topped with a sparkling foam. Beneath the peaceful light of Selene, the ocean rages on.

Arnold & Son interprets this powerfully symbolic scene through mechanisms and minerals. The astronomical moon complication of Perpetual Moon 38 Night Tide is adorned in mother-of-pearl and ruthenium: a delicate, evocative composition that fully expresses the dial-makers’ expertise. The mother-of-pearl marquetry, ruthenium crystal inlays and abundance of diamonds symbolise the painstaking care lavished on the women's collections of Switzerland’s most English brand.

Azure, navy, ink, midnight
Perpetual Moon 38 Night Tide is sculpted from a block of white gold. Once shaped, the 38 mm diameter and 10.44 mm thick case is adorned with 80 high-clarity diamonds. Together with the brilliant-cut diamonds adorning the buckle and the marquise-cut stones on the dial, they give a total weight of 2.62 carats. This gem-setting announces the ornamental richness with which Arnold & Son has composed this women’s complication.

Wave after wave, trough after trough, shades of blue and grey follow one another, creating a jumble of undulating seas, mother-of-pearl and ruthenium. Above this scene, a starry sky, punctuated by luminescent hand-painted constellations, is filled with an immense moon. Its surface, also made of ruthenium crystals, lights up the sky. This exceptional material has become a signature of Arnold & Son, adding preciousness, light and texture to its creations.

The grande dame of mechanisms
This limited edition of 18 pieces brings the watchmaking excellence of Arnold & Son to women. The Swiss brand has dedicated the smallest movement in its collection to Perpetual Moon 38.

At 29.4 mm, the A&S1612 calibre has been sized to fit the case. The hand-wound movement continues the house's tradition of calibres with long power reserves, reaching 90 hours.

Her Majesty the Moon
The star complication of the A&S1612 calibre is its moon phase. True to Arnold & Son's astronomical principle, Perpetual Moon 38 Night Tide features a moon disc almost as large as the calibre itself. The successive shapes of its crescent occupy the large aperture between 10 and 2 o'clock, while the form of its cut-out faithfully recreates the appearance of the moon.

In keeping with its tradition, Arnold & Son has given this moon phase an accuracy of 122 years. Continuously rising, it will take more than a century for this moon to lag one day behind the real one in our skies, watching over the oceans.

Chronoswiss Strike Two Stella Blue and Nugget: Where Precision Meets Personality

In the world of independent watchmaking, few designs capture the essence of mechanical artistry and thematic storytelling like the Chronoswiss Strike Two collection. With its signature horizontal regulator layout and exposed gear architecture, the collection is a canvas for both cosmic inspiration and historical homage. The Stellar Blue and Nugget editions, though forged from different visions, share a unified spirit: precision in motion, elevated by craftsmanship.

Architecture of Time

At the heart of both models lies the Chronoswiss Manufacture Caliber C.6000, developed in collaboration with La Joux-Perret. This automatic movement delivers a robust 55-hour power reserve, beating at 4 Hz (28,800 A/h). A skeletonized tungsten rotor, ruthenium-plated Geneva-cut bridges, and polished components reflect the brand’s commitment to mechanical transparency and refinement. Viewed through a sapphire caseback, the movement reveals a radial geometry that echoes the symmetry of the dial above.

The horizontal regulator layout defines the Strike Two identity: a floating hour display at 3 o’clock, central luminous minutes, and a small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock. Two architectural bridges span the dial, exposing the gear train and anchoring the visual rhythm of the watch.

Stellar Blue – A Tribute to Cosmic Velocity

The Stellar Blue edition draws inspiration from the brilliance and motion of stellar light. Its dial features a deep blue CVD-coated base, hand-guillochéd with linear engraving that mimics the trajectory of light through space. A silver rhodium-plated subdial adds contrast, while the luminous minute hand glides across the dial like a comet in orbit.

Encased in matte grey sandblasted stainless steel, the watch offers a futuristic silhouette that complements its celestial theme. Measuring 40 mm in diameter and 12.7 mm in thickness, it wears with elegance and presence. The strap is crafted from white nubuck calfskin leather, lined with blue Alcantara, echoing the dial’s cosmic hue.

Nugget – A Homage to Discovery and Rarity

In contrast, the Strike Two Nugget is a celebration of terrestrial treasure — a mechanical gold rush forged in solid 18ct red gold. Inspired by the thrill of unearthing something precious, the Nugget edition elevates the Strike Two architecture with warmth, weight, and richness.

Its anthracite dial, hand-guillochéd and treated with a galvanic finish, reveals depth and texture. A glossy white lacquered small seconds subdial punctuates the monochrome palette, while the exposed gearwork beneath the hour display adds mechanical drama.

The case, polished and sandblasted, retains the 40 mm diameter and 12.7 mm thickness, but its golden sheen transforms the watch into a statement of rarity. Paired with a black nubuck calfskin strap lined in blue Alcantara, the Nugget balances boldness with refinement..

Two Visions, One Philosophy

Whether inspired by the stars or the soil, the Strike Two Stellar Blue and Strike Two Nugget embody Chronoswiss’s philosophy of independent design, mechanical excellence, and thematic storytelling. Limited to 100 pieces each, these timepieces are not just instruments of time — they are expressions of discovery, crafted for collectors who seek meaning in every detail.

The Golden Era Begins: Mirrored Force Resonance in Rose Gold

Armin Strom proudly unveils a new expression of its horological mastery with the launch of the Mirrored Force Resonance in 18K Rose Gold. This limited edition marks a significant milestone for the brand’s most iconic timepiece, blending technical innovation with timeless elegance.

A First in Rose Gold

For the first time, Armin Strom’s signature case is crafted from 18K rose gold, offering a warm and luxurious aesthetic. The 43 mm case features alternating brushed and polished finishes, enhancing its sculptural presence. Beneath the sapphire crystal, a bold black off-centre dial showcases a handcrafted sunray guilloché pattern, created using a traditional rose engine lathe. A chapter ring with circular finishing adds depth and texture, while a dark grey Alcantara strap completes the refined look.

Resonance Engineered for Performance

At the heart of this timepiece lies the Caliber ARF21, a manually wound movement that exemplifies Armin Strom’s pioneering work in resonance watchmaking. The patented Resonance Clutch Spring synchronizes two independent balance wheels, enhancing precision and chronometric stability. A pusher at 2 o’clock resets the twin seconds counters, offering a visual demonstration of the resonance mechanism’s accuracy.

Craftsmanship Without Compromise

Every surface of the movement is meticulously hand-finished, visible through sapphire crystals on both sides of the case. Techniques such as hand-beveling, black polishing, perlage, and circular graining highlight Armin Strom’s commitment to haute horology. Each watch is assembled twice to ensure mechanical integrity and flawless finishing.

Limited Edition of 15 Pieces

This exclusive release is limited to just 15 pieces, each priced at CHF 88,000. It represents a rare opportunity to own a timepiece that embodies both technical brilliance and artisanal beauty.
A Statement from Claude Greisler

“The introduction of an 18-karat rose gold case marks a significant milestone for the Mirrored Force Resonance series. This choice of material not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also underscores our commitment to offering a diverse range of options to our clientele,” said Claude Greisler, Co-Founder and Master Watchmaker at Armin Strom.

CARVED BY TIME. CONNECTED BY HERITAGE. Chronoswiss Unveils the Small Second Stone Collection

Chronoswiss proudly unveils its latest masterpiece within the Modern Mechanical era, introducing the Small Second Stone Collection featuring stunning natural stone dials. The Small Second Jasper and Small Second Serpentine models pay tribute to the brand's remarkable journey, bridging its origins in Munich with its creative home in Lucerne. By uniting millions of years of geological history with over four decades of independent watchmaking, these timepieces transform nature itself into an exquisite canvas for mechanical artistry.

The narrative behind these watches stretches back millions of years before the creation of the first mechanical movement. The Small Second Serpentine features a striking green stone sourced from the region surrounding Zermatt and the Matterhorn, representing an ancient ocean floor pushed upward during continental collisions to form the Alps. Meanwhile, the Small Second Jasper utilizes the painted stone of the Earth from Germany, honoring the foundational roots of founder Gerd Rüdiger Lang and connecting with the historic stone-cutting traditions of Idar-Oberstein.

Because these creations rely on genuine natural minerals, every single dial is entirely unique. The Small Second Jasper captivates the eye with a landscape of warm beige, brown, and ivory tones housed in a refined stainless steel case, while the Small Second Serpentine presents a vivid green dial paired with a sophisticated two-tone stainless steel and 18-karat red gold case. Limited to just 50 pieces each worldwide, these wristwatches offer collectors an exclusive expression of organic beauty and sophisticated luxury.

At the heart of these models lies the Chronoswiss Manufacture Caliber C.6000, an automatic movement that delivers an approximate 55-hour power reserve. The movement features a skeletonized tungsten rotor and Geneva-striped bridges, which can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back. Housed within a 40-millimeter case featuring the signature fluted bezel and onion crown, the design maintains visual balance by placing the hand-guilloched small seconds subdial at the 9 o'clock position.

The Small Second Stone Collection stands as a pure and captivating expression of the Chronoswiss design philosophy. Marrying meticulous craftsmanship with exceptional horological engineering, these timepieces invite connoisseurs to wear a fragment of geological history on their wrists. Each watch successfully honors the past while pushing the boundaries of contemporary independent watchmaking into an exciting future.
