Chronoswiss Unveils the Next Chapter in Horological Space Exploration

SEPTEMBER 13 2024    |    Novelties

Embark on a journey beyond the stars with Chronoswiss’ latest horological marvels: The Space Timer Deep Space and Space Timer Supernova. At Chronoswiss, the allure of the cosmos has always been more than just a distant fascination - it’s a canvas for innovation and creativity. This year, the journey continues as we push the boundaries of watchmaking with two new models that capture the awe-inspiring vastness of space: the Space Timer Deep Space and the Space Timer Super Nova.

A Journey Through the Cosmos: Space Timer Deep Space
The Space Timer Deep Space is a masterclass in blending artistry with technical prowess. Encased in a 44mm stainless-steel case, bathed in a striking blue CVD coating, this timepiece invites the wearer to venture into the unknown. Its matching blue hornback alligator leather strap is not just an accessory, but a continuation of the deep, serene hues that define this cosmic masterpiece.

The dial of the Space Timer Deep Space is a marvel of contrasts and textures. On one side, a meticulously printed depiction of Jupiter and its fiery moon, IO - the most volcanically active world in our solar system - unfolds across seven layers of vivid detail. The other half of the dial, divided by an elegant guilloche-line, is a symphony of hand-guilloché patterns, also finished in a deep blue CVD coating, representing the boundless mystery of deep space. The 3-dimensional dial, with its hovering bridge beneath the translucent ITR-2 hour, minute and date rings, create a microcosm of the universe right on your wrist.

A Stellar Explosion: Space Timer Supernova
The Space Timer Supernova captures the cataclysmic beauty of a star’s explosive death, transforming it into a wearable work of art. Housed in a matte grey stainless-steel case and complemented by a black calf leather strap, this timepiece evokes the raw power and elegance of a supernova.

Its dial is a study in contrast and motion. The two-toned surface, split between galvanic black and galvanic silver, symbolizing the last evolutionary stage of a planet in the endless darkness of space. The hand-guillochéd textures bring depth and dimension to the dial, while the red ITR-2 hour, minute and date rings, along with the seemingly floating titanium moonphase at 6 o’clock, add a striking vibrancy to the scene. It’s a watch that tells a story of cosmic creation, where every glance at the dial is like peering into the depths of a galaxy.

The Engine Behind the Stars
Both the Space Timer Deep Space and the Space Timer Supernova are powered by the Chronoswiss C.308 caliber, a movement as precise and powerful as the celestial bodies it emulates. With a 42-hour power reserve and a frequency of 4Hz, this caliber ensures that time is not just kept but mastered, like the galaxies themselves.

A Limited Odyssey
In the vast expanse of the universe, uniqueness is rare. The Space Timer Deep Space and Supernova are no exceptions. Both models are limited editions of 50, offering a select few the chance to wear a piece of the cosmos on their wrist. These timepieces are not just watches; they are journeys—expeditions into the unknown, where artistry, innovation, and the infinite wonders of the universe converge.

Chronoswiss invites you to step beyond the boundaries of Earth, to explore the depths of space and the power of a supernova, all within the confines of a watch. These are not just timepieces—they are the embodiment of mankind’s eternal quest to reach for the stars.

A timepiece unveiling the aesthetic technique of a finely hand-decorated movement.

For the final titanium 41mm, three-hands limited edition with rubber strap, Romain Gauthier presents a timepiece with a partially open dial, unveiling a portion of the entirely hand-decorated movement.

C by Romain Gauthier Titanium Editions are modern timepieces with a sporty design that encloses a titanium movement whose hand-finishing prowess can be admired on the case-back. This time Romain wanted the stunning features of this movement to be easily visible just by looking at the watch, even when worn. By opening the dial, he reveals the beauty of the mechanism inside, bringing a technical aesthetic to this timepiece, which until now has featured a full dial.

This partially open dial is particularly reminiscent of the history of the brand's very first timepiece, the Prestige HM, which evolved to reveal the seconds-hand mechanism on its sister caliber, the Prestige HMS.

Unveiled in 2021, the C by Romain Gauthier caliber was the result of more than 16 years of know-how acquired through the brand's development and its manufacture, while reflecting Romain's creative freedom with a modern and youthful design.

Technical in nature, casual in style and free in spirit, the Freedom collection has enabled the creation of this contemporary caliber. The significance of C by Romain Gauthier lies in its creative approach to reinforce the notions of continuity with its concept and design, in reference to the Continuum. Reflecting a vision of the future for a timepiece which is part of Romain Gauthier's philosophy, and which opens the door to new horizons.

During its creation, it was clear to Romain that the case had to harmonize with the movement. It had to be contemporary and uncluttered. But not only that – comfort, ergonomics and the choice of materials also contributed to the design of this timepiece with the decision to use Grade 5 titanium. The dial, in sapphire for this edition, adds to the consistency of the piece and evokes a sense of continuity, as no circle completes the time indication.

Inspired by the finger bridges style, the design of the movement follows the watchmaking history of the Vallée de Joux but with a modern approach, reflecting Romain’s vision of the evolution of tradition.

Romain Gauthier presents the sixth edition of the caliber in titanium in a limited edition of 88-pieces and engraved “1 of 88” on the back of each movement.

Chronoswiss Strike Two Stella Blue and Nugget: Where Precision Meets Personality

In the world of independent watchmaking, few designs capture the essence of mechanical artistry and thematic storytelling like the Chronoswiss Strike Two collection. With its signature horizontal regulator layout and exposed gear architecture, the collection is a canvas for both cosmic inspiration and historical homage. The Stellar Blue and Nugget editions, though forged from different visions, share a unified spirit: precision in motion, elevated by craftsmanship.

Architecture of Time

At the heart of both models lies the Chronoswiss Manufacture Caliber C.6000, developed in collaboration with La Joux-Perret. This automatic movement delivers a robust 55-hour power reserve, beating at 4 Hz (28,800 A/h). A skeletonized tungsten rotor, ruthenium-plated Geneva-cut bridges, and polished components reflect the brand’s commitment to mechanical transparency and refinement. Viewed through a sapphire caseback, the movement reveals a radial geometry that echoes the symmetry of the dial above.

The horizontal regulator layout defines the Strike Two identity: a floating hour display at 3 o’clock, central luminous minutes, and a small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock. Two architectural bridges span the dial, exposing the gear train and anchoring the visual rhythm of the watch.

Stellar Blue – A Tribute to Cosmic Velocity

The Stellar Blue edition draws inspiration from the brilliance and motion of stellar light. Its dial features a deep blue CVD-coated base, hand-guillochéd with linear engraving that mimics the trajectory of light through space. A silver rhodium-plated subdial adds contrast, while the luminous minute hand glides across the dial like a comet in orbit.

Encased in matte grey sandblasted stainless steel, the watch offers a futuristic silhouette that complements its celestial theme. Measuring 40 mm in diameter and 12.7 mm in thickness, it wears with elegance and presence. The strap is crafted from white nubuck calfskin leather, lined with blue Alcantara, echoing the dial’s cosmic hue.

Nugget – A Homage to Discovery and Rarity

In contrast, the Strike Two Nugget is a celebration of terrestrial treasure — a mechanical gold rush forged in solid 18ct red gold. Inspired by the thrill of unearthing something precious, the Nugget edition elevates the Strike Two architecture with warmth, weight, and richness.

Its anthracite dial, hand-guillochéd and treated with a galvanic finish, reveals depth and texture. A glossy white lacquered small seconds subdial punctuates the monochrome palette, while the exposed gearwork beneath the hour display adds mechanical drama.

The case, polished and sandblasted, retains the 40 mm diameter and 12.7 mm thickness, but its golden sheen transforms the watch into a statement of rarity. Paired with a black nubuck calfskin strap lined in blue Alcantara, the Nugget balances boldness with refinement..

Two Visions, One Philosophy

Whether inspired by the stars or the soil, the Strike Two Stellar Blue and Strike Two Nugget embody Chronoswiss’s philosophy of independent design, mechanical excellence, and thematic storytelling. Limited to 100 pieces each, these timepieces are not just instruments of time — they are expressions of discovery, crafted for collectors who seek meaning in every detail.

Greubel Forsey Launches the Nano Foudroyante: A New Chapter in Watchmaking Innovation

Greubel Forsey has officially released the Nano Foudroyante, a groundbreaking timepiece that blends cutting-edge nanomechanics with refined craftsmanship. Limited to just 22 pieces, this watch marks a major milestone for the brand, evolving from its earlier Experimental Watch Technology (EWT) concept into a fully developed and independent creation.

The Nano Foudroyante is crafted entirely in white gold and features a rhodium-finished dial with a blue minute track, blued steel hands, and a white foudroyante dial for enhanced legibility. A blue textured rubber strap completes the look, giving the watch a modern and sporty edge.

What sets this timepiece apart is its use of nanomechanics—a revolutionary approach that allows the foudroyante complication to operate using just 16 nanojoules of energy per jump. That’s 1,800 times less than traditional designs. The complication divides each second into six parts, with a red-treated hand rotating once per second, driven directly by the balance wheel. There’s no traditional gear train, just a series of ultra-efficient, low-inertia wheels.

The Nano Foudroyante also features Greubel Forsey’s first flying tourbillon, with the foudroyante dial always facing twelve o’clock for easy reading. Despite its complexity—428 components in total—the movement fits into a compact 37.90mm case, making it the smallest Greubel Forsey watch ever made.

This release is a bold statement of innovation and intent, offering collectors a rare opportunity to own one of the most advanced mechanical watches ever created..

gérald genta Introduces Gentissima Oursin 41 with Meteorite Dials

gérald genta continues its legacy of audacious elegance with the launch of two new references in the Gentissima Oursin collection: Blue Meteorite and Green Meteorite. These timepieces mark a bold evolution of the iconic design first imagined by Mr. Gérald Genta in 1994, inspired by the delicate yet resilient form of the sea urchin.

A Design Born from Nature and the Cosmos
The Gentissima Oursin 41 features a 41mm sandblasted Grade 5 titanium case, meticulously set with 234 white gold beads, echoing the organic geometry of the sea urchin. At its heart lies a dial carved from a fragment of meteorite—a material born from the stars—making each watch a unique, one-of-one creation. The natural crystalline structure of meteorite ensures that no two dials are alike, offering collectors a truly rare expression of artistry.

Sporty-Chic Meets Haute Horlogerie
Combining rubber straps and titanium architecture with luxurious gold accents, the Gentissima Oursin 41 is designed for everyday wearability without compromising sophistication. A curved sapphire crystal, faceted with a subtle octagonal profile, protects the dial and enhances its dynamic character. Gold hands filled with Super-LumiNova featuring a pink hue—a tribute to Mr. Genta’s favorite color—ensure legibility and elegance.

Mechanical Excellence
Inside beats the Zenith Elite GG-005 automatic movement, boasting a 50-hour power reserve, 4 Hz frequency, and an 18K yellow gold oscillating mass, visible through a sapphire caseback. With 50m water resistance and a comfortable rubber strap, this timepiece is as practical as it is artistic.
